Corpus Christi Area Oil Spill Control Association

52 YEARS OF KEEPING COASTAL WATERS CLEAN

Corpus Christi Area Oil Spill Control Association is the oldest continuously operated oil spill clean-up cooperative in the nation. Organized in 1970, CCAOSCA is a 501 C (4) non-profit organization that is supported by the community and over 32 member company facilities.

Located at the opening of the Corpus Christi Ship Channel and Corpus Christi Bay we have protected our local community and environment and assisted a robust and growing maritime and oil and gas industry in being good stewards of our bay systems for over fifty years.

To prepare for unfortunate events, CCAOSCA has a staff of highly trained individuals with expertise in boat operations and spill response activities and equipment use. CCAOSCA owns over 18,000 feet of containment boom with it pre-staged along the Corpus Christi Ship Channel, and around the bay system for immediate response needs. A small fleet of workboats and work and storage barges help provide for a well-rounded response. We are available for emergency response on a 24/7/365 basis.

CCAOSCA is well known for our successful speedy responses and is also known for a long list of successful Government initiated Unannounced Exercises (GIUEs) at member company facilities. On a yearly basis staff works on many member company equipment deployment exercises which hones our skills and assures the community of our readiness.

Staff is well versed in providing preventative booming for lightering operations and understands, and maintains, permanent boom installations for facilities that require them.
